Update on my life… What you been up to?

Here is an update on what I have been up to over the past few months. Stepping into the gym for the first time in a long time made me realise something today. I miss training. I want to fight. Pushing yourself past a point you never thought you could pass is a feeling I used to feel all the time and is a feeling I look forward to feeling again. I went back to the gym tonight and it was great. Seeing some old and more new faces around made me miss being there every night.

Now I know I can’t be there every night like I used to – but if fighting is something that I definitely want to do then sacrifices have to be made. I haven’t posted in a little while, so I thought it fit to update you on what has been going on in my life and why there hasn’t been much activity on MTBUK.

I have my second baby on the way, who is due any day now (can you believe it?!), for all those people who actually know me, to think that I would be a dad to not one but two children would be absolutely absurd. I wouldn’t have thought, 5 or 6 years ago that I would be a father to two children… It’s crazy! I wouldn’t change it for the world though, Maximus is growing up into such a beautiful and loving little boy and with the impending expansion of my family now, as Bob Dylan famously sang… “Oh the times they are a changing.”

As well as having my family growing, me and my wife have bought, renovated and moved into my first home. That alone has given me more to deal with than I could have ever possibly imagined. Without going into too much detail, I have had many lessons learned and people’s true colours have shown. Now that I am in the house with my family and my new little boy is due any day now, I feel as though the fog is finally clearing somewhat and I can begin to concentrate a little more on moving forward with my passions again.

As I mentioned before, for the first time in quite a long time, I went back to the gym tonight and actually participated in a class. That’s right, I put myself in a position where I actually exerted more energy than I had to. Which for me at the moment is a huge shock to the system but boy do I feel great for it! I can fully understand why exercise is so important and looking back over the past 6 months or so, I can’t help but think things might have worked out slightly differently if I had kept training or at least exercising in some way.

A shift in my mindset is required to begin focussing on what is truly important in life and that is developing as a person and always pushing forward to always achieve your goals. I let mine slip but I am working my way to building the momentum needed to begin building my dreams again. The last thing I want to do is jump in at 100mph, take on too much and burn out quickly and really lose my passion and drive to achieve what I set out to.

Long story short, you will be seeing a bit more of MTBUK around again, I have been working on building a team of people to help with blog posts and updates, events coverage etc so you will definitely see a bit more movement on the Muay Thai Blog website and across the social media channels.

I still have a couple of podcasts that I recorded some time back with some exciting guests and I will be getting these posted within the next week or two and will be looking to do a monthly update on the podcast with a different guest each episode. It’s good to be back, I’m sorry for rambling but I felt an update on myself was needed before I jumped right back into news updates, interviews and videos etc.
