Shane Farquharson interview from The Tankō Main Event May 2016
This young lad is about as cool as they come. Shane Farquharson had just come back from Thailand two weeks ago after spending some time out there training at the Kiatphontip gym and fighting on MAX Muay Thai out there. He came back and took this fight against Andrew Lofthouse on short notice because his original opponent, Myk Estlick unfortunately got injured during training.
Shane is a cracking little fighter who is destined for a fantastic future in the sport if he keeps this up. This fight went the distance and there was a bit of a concern as to who actually took the win, I know after speaking with Andrew Lofthouse he thought he did enough to take the win. Shane mentioned that he had him where he wanted him, applying pressure and Shane did what he needed to to take the win!
Well done to Shane really, many had him pinned as the underdog as he is much younger than his opponent and Andy has a bit more experience than him in the ring but Shane was able to show the spectators what it takes to be an established fighter in the sport. I was keen to know what was next for Shane, I know he is fighting in June on the Victory Promotions show in Newcastle against Jordan Williams and I was looking forward to getting to know what he thought of that upcoming fight.
I enjoyed talking with Shane, he was another one of these guys who you could just strike up a conversation with and just let it flow. He is a credit to Jompop and the team over at Kiatphontip and I wish him all the best in his future, which I am sure will be a prosperous one! Thanks Shane for chatting with us after your fight, we will see you again sometime soon I am sure!
