Sak Yant tattoo – What do they mean?

Have you ever wondered what the tattoos mean that you see on both Thai and non-Thai fighters? A Sak Yant tattoo is explained in this video, you are given a little bit of background about what the tattoos mean, how they are done and where you can find the people who do them.

I would love to have a Sak Yant tattoo done when I eventually get out to Thailand. I think the meaning behind them is better and more meaningful than any tattoo that you can get anywhere else in the world and having it blessed by a Thai monk while it is happening and having it done by hand with a single needle must be a different experience all together.

There are many different types of the Sak Yant tattoo and all of them have different meanings. Check out the Chiang Mai Sak Yant website here to have a look at what each of them mean, it is a very interesting read and breaks down exactly what each tattoo means and how to book them if you are going on a trip to Thailand.

They are incredibly sacred and are said to protect that of the person who is baring it, it is embedded into Thai culture but you do find westerners who visit Thailand also venture into the temples of the monks.

If you have a Sak Yant, drop us it in a comment below and explain the meaning of it, we would love to see it! The video sums up the monk who is based at the temple and documents the meaning behind the tattoos and what they mean and why he does what he does.

Feel free to share the video and your friends and tell the world about the Sak Yant tattoo!
