MTBUK/UK Muay Thai news update!
So quite a lot is happening in the Muay Thai world at the moment, events going on, people flying the UK flag at various locations around the world and I thought it was about time that I got my arse into gear and told people about it.
UK News – Myk Estlick fights in Thailand
Myk Estlick takes a win by KO at MAX Muay Thai in Pattaya, Thailand. He stopped a Thai in the second round of the fight. As soon as I can get my mitts on a video I will post it on here.
This is what he said about his experiences: “Really happy to right the wrongs from last year. Last year I got my head blown clean off in the exact same stadium so to come back to the same place and win by KO meant a lot. Can’t wait to fight again!”
Myk will be fighting on the YOKKAO show in October, his opponent is yet to be announced but I am sure it will be another tough opponent for him!
UK News – Chris Whittle flies the flag in Milan
Chris Whittle fought for an ISKA European title in Milan Italy representing Frank’s Gym in Manchester and won! He took some time off because he had an injury but he has definitely come back in style!
This is what he said post fight: “Italy we came and we conquered‼ It was a great experience, met a lot of new, lovely people! Just want to say a massive thank you to Frankie, the expression on our faces say a thousand words! Good to say you are European champion and done it in someone else’s backyard but my feet are still on the ground and I look forward to my next stepping stone, it will be bigger and better & that’s how we are continuing. See you soon, watch this space!”
Chris has been a promising talent for some time and I look forward to seeing him back in action very soon.
UK News – Brad Stanton on Top King World Series
Brad Stanton took to the air with Jompop to take on one of his biggest challenges to date. I followed his journey quite closely on social media and it looked like he had a fantastic time out there.
Unfortunately, he didn’t get as far as we had all hoped, he lost a tough fight to a really hard opponent, Yodwicha KemMuayThaiGym. He looked good in the first round but ate a couple of nasty shots in the second. Brad is a truly humble and down to earth. I wish him the very best in his future, he will be fighting again very soon on the Kiatphontip show at the end of the month.
This is what Brad said about his experiences at the Top King World Series: “So this is Thai boxing. Two men jump into a ring no mater what path of life they have, they fight their ass off and do their best for themselves, their future, their family and gym! The respect Muay Thai has no sport will ever beat it! Yodwicha is a gentleman! I’ll say more in the near future but right now I want to thank you all for the support and onto the next one! I isn’t stopping just cos I got beat! Thank you all, much love! Jah bless”
UK News – YOKKAO ticket update from promoter Brian Calder
YOKKAO is looming ever closer and closer. The two main events as well as a number of other fights have been announced for YOKKAO 19 & 20. The two main events are Jordan Watson vs Reece McAllister and also Liam Harrison vs Fabio Pinca.
The full line-up is yet to be announced but Jake Purdy will take on Brad Stanton and Amy Pirdie is set to fight the Muay Thai sensation Dakota Ditcheva… On these fights alone the show is going to be a fantastic event but as per, there is plenty more yet to come.
Brian took to social media today after coming back from holiday and said this: “That’s me back refreshed and ready to finalise everything to do with our next event in October. There are now only a very limited number of Silver and Bronze tickets left, and I mean limited, and this is not a sales pitch as the event sells itself. We haven’t even started pushing the event yet. So if you leave it until the last month or so then I am afraid you won’t be able to get your hands on any tickets. The remaining Silver and Bronze tickets can be bought from: www.supershowdown.co.uk
I am always excited to go to a YOKKAO event, I am sure that this one will deliver a spectacle of Muay Thai in the UK. As further updates follow I will keep it updated with what is happening.
Things have been quiet for a little while on the site but things have been happening backstage. I got sent a pair of gloves from Sandee a little while ago now and have been using them in the training I have been doing. I was going to review the gloves but the review has turned into something a little more than just a review of the gloves. I have been seeing Sandee in quite a few places and it is quickly growing into a review of the brand as a whole and is something that I am looking forward to sharing.
I have a couple of interesting articles in the making regarding training, motivation, travelling to Thailand and training there, more Muay Thai BlogCasts on the way and also some videos from my time in London touring a couple of gyms as well as my time at Andy Howson’s Science of 8 Muay Thai gym in Birmingham! As well as a couple of interviews that I am hopefully getting lined up with some fighters and coaches around the UK!
So things are happening and I look forward to bringing them all to you very soon but I need to get it right before I put them out. I want them to be the best quality I can, or that I am capable of at least, so watch this space. So much more to come in the near future!
Until then, head over to our various social media accounts (linked at the bottom of the article) and make sure you like, subscribe, follow each of them to keep up to date with what we are up to. I am having a few issues with my Facebook page at the moment so I am trying to get that resolved and will begin posting more regularly on it.
Have a look at some of the events that are coming up in the next couple of weeks, there are some fantastic shows in the making and shows that I look forward to catching up with people about!
