Muay Thai Blog visits Legions Gym in York
Muay Thai Blog recently ventured down to York to see Dave Phillips, Al Chambers and the team at Legion Gym. Safe to say I was massively impressed with the facilities that Legions have available to the Nak Muay who go and train there. They have a massive matted area on the upper floor with two rings and a 45ft bag rack.
Legions are making waves at the moment with the fighters that they have in the gym with Danny Harrison-Little recently taking a win on Andy Howson’s Science of 8 promotions show to win the ICO Intercontinental title against a tough Portuguese. Also Ian Houillebecq and Liam Brough who are both going over to Australia in December to fight John Wayne Parr’s CMT 9 show.
The Legions team are currently in Thailand at the Patong gym in Phuket, they only got there yesterday and Liam has already had an offer to fight at their stadium this Thursday. MTBUK wish him the best of luck in the fight and I am sure that he will smash it, especially with the fantastic team that he has behind him.
I did an interview with Dave Phillips and Liam Brough who at the time was training for a fight on the Saturday I was there, I got chance to see him doing his final bit of training, also a beginners and advanced class in action too. The fighters of the Legions team take the beginners class and it is clear that they are very much a family who pull in together to bring the gym together.
The interview covers the facilities that Legions has to offer, as well as getting to know a bit more about Liam Brough and how he got into Muay Thai, their journey over to Thailand and Australia later this year and also what else they have planned for the development of the gym too!
I am excited to go down to Legions again and do a bit of training with them because they have Liam Harrison, James France and other members of the Muay Thai community coming through to teach there. I will be taking my camera down to record a few technique videos to add to our collection of tutorial videos that we have.
If you would like your gym reviewed by MTBUK then drop me an email at info@muaythaiblog.co.uk and we can arrange a time for me to come along and do a bit of filming. I went to Kiatphontip Gym in Leeds and will be posting an interview I did with Brad Stanton and Jersey Pinto ahead of their fights on the YOKKAO show that happened this weekend. You can see the MTBUK write up of the show right here.
Until then, enjoy the interview and remember to drop us a line on either one of our social media sites as I would love to hear from you and come to your gym to see what you have to offer the local Nak Muay in your area.
