Keith McLachlan from Tanko Main Event

Interview with Keith McLachlan from The Tankō Main Event 14th May 2016

This guy is awesome! I have spoken with Keith McLachlan a few times and he is always so approachable and a true gentleman. He won the ‘Fighter of the Year 2015’ for his amazing year last year. He began the year as he meant to go on taking a win over Aaron O’Callaghan. Unfortunately this fight didn’t go his way but it is not to say that it wasn’t entertaining!

Keith McLachlan fought Panicos Yusuf in what can only be described as a war! Keith held his own in the first couple of rounds but Panicos was able to grind him down to eventually take the win. It was awesome to get to speak to Keith, I was looking forward to speaking to him about the Facebook drama and his future within the sport in terms of wanting more belts and his overall aims and goals.

I was interested in his the situation with being drafted into fights late and the weight cut that comes along with it. When we spoke before, he mentioned that his old friend Liam Robinson, who sadly isn’t with us anymore, had this match up set just before his passing and I was interested to get Keith’s opinion on this to find out whether it was a sort of dedication to Liam.

Keith is an exciting fighter that always delivers when he graces the ring. He is so respectful and is always incredibly humble. You can see that Muay Thai runs through his veins, all of his family trains at the Griphouse in Glasgow and are doing really well, his lads are still young but are definitely going to follow in their dad’s footsteps in becoming very well known in the Muay Thai world.

Remember to subscribe to the YouTube channel when you’re over there watching the interview and also head to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to keep up to date with all things MTBUK. We will be putting out a couple more interviews before we are then onto the next steps!
